We just finish up the month of January and to be honest, it was a little bit stingy on Asian Horror DVD release. Well anyhow putting that aside, we have some slew of recent title that came out. If you have been saving for some money the past couple of weeks, here is your chance to catch up on these to add up to your collection. These probably are not in local store or Netflix so you may want to check these one on your favorite online Asian site because most of them are import, or you can wait until North American distributors pick them up. Either way time to list them up for you. Please note these are all January release
Dead Air
From the man man behind the production of Bodyguards and Assassins Teddy Chen, it is about a producer who made a pact with a lady ghost after his TV program receives poor rating. After helping her out deliver a still alive baby out of her dead body, the ghost help him create a reality show that features contestant performing suicide acts. The show became a sensational hit, but the true motive of the ghost is about to unfold…
Starring Leila Tong, Terrance Yin and Susan Che. This Hong Kong supernatural thriller is Xavier Lee’s directorial debut.

This Japanese movie was adapted from Osamu Tezuka’s controversial manga in the 1970′s, Starring Tamaki Hiroshi (Nodame Cantabile) and Yamada Takayuki (Crows Zero). The movie tells the story of a chemical weapon leak called MW in an isolated island of Japan. The government tried to cover up the incident by killing all the inhabitant, however two young boy survived, Michio and Garai. Sixteen years later haunted by the past Michio now a banker turned into a cold blooded murderer at night while Garai now a priest must find a way to stop his friends madness.

Ju-on White Ghost & Ju-on Black Ghost
White Ghost is directed by Miyake Ryuta starring actress and gravure model Minami Akina as Akane, a high school student whose childhood friends was murdered by her brother who also committed suicide after failing the bar exam.
Black Ghost stars ex Morning Musume member Kago Ai as nurse Yuko who takes care of a girl with a disease, the disease however turns out to be a grudge of the girl’s unborn twin. The curse soon spreads to everyone around her.

The Case of Itaewon Homicide (Special Edition)
Based on a True Story, this South Korean movie is about a 1997 murder case that brought great controversy in Korea. A college student name Jong Pil Jo (Song Jong Ki) is found dead in the bathroom of a fast food restaurant in Itaewon. Two Korean-American, Pearson (Jang Geun Suk) and Alex (Shin Seung Hwan) were seen with him arguing before the incident . the investigation is thrown into disarray after the suspects gives contradicting account of what really happens that night.

Thirst (Blu-Ray) (UK Version)
This movie was actually released in the US way back in December, but if you live in the UK this could be a good news for you. Directed by Park Chan-wook, it is about a priest from a small town who turns into a vampire after a failed experiment. His way of life suddenly change when he meet the wife of his childhood friend. Failing deeply in despair, he struggles to maintain the good that is left with him.
Painted Skin
This is the original 1993 version from the legendary director of kung fu classics, King Hu. Based on a short story of supernatural tales in Chinese anthology Liaozhai, and regarded as best-known version of all screen adaptations in Chinese cinema. A young Scholar Wong (Adam Cheng) meets a girl named Yau Fung (Joey Wong) on the street one night, he instantly falls under the spell of her beauty and brings her home, not realizing that she is actually a ghost. Yau Fung is also made a pact with the Yin Yang Demon King and reluctantly obeys his command to be the bait luring horny men to their death. With the help of a Taoist high priest (Sammo Hung). They must stop Wong from a killing rampage.

This Japanese movie tells the tale of a forbidden love and desire between vampire and human being. Detective Hoshino (Tsuda Kanji) investigate a bizarre murder case, when he arrives at the house of the decedent’s employer Miyako (Sugimoto Aya), She states that the killer is someone called Ukyo. When the detective finally got into Ukyo’s den, he witnesses an unexpected horrifying scene.

Backpackers – a pair of Japanese backpackers in Thailand wish they did not know what’s inside the trailer of the truck they hitchhike on after hours of curiosity
Salvage – a car dealer refurbishes damaged cars and sells them to unsuspecting bargain hunters who knows nothing about the cars horrific past
In the End – during the last scene of a horror movie, the crew continues with the shoot even after the actress dies for real. What happens next is something they did not expect.
