This movie is about a cursed video tape wherein anyone who watches it dies after seven days. The movie started with two teenagers talking about the cursed videotape and how it actually kills the one who saw it after seven days. One of the two teenagers was able to watch the cursed video along with other two friends and indeed they all died a very horrible death.
An investigative journalist came to investigate the death of the three teenagers, one of them her niece, and how their faces were twisted out of fear. She found out where the four girls stayed in a cabin in Izu and decided to go there to investigate further. Upon reaching the cabin she found a tape without a label in one of the files and decided to watch it which contains disturbing images in which after a minute she receives a bizarre phone call realizing that the curse is taking toll on her, she made a copy of the video and called her estranged husband to help her find a way to put an end to the curse. Her husband becomes curious and watched the videotape as well.
As the story unfold and in their race against time to solve the mystery they went back to where it all started, the cabin in Izu where they found out that there was a well buried underneath cabin B4. They decided to empty the well and found a girl’s dead body in there. The news reporter was suppose to die but after they found the dead girl’s body, the reporter didn’t die so they thought the curse had ended but unknown to them the curse went on and it was too late when the reporter found out that finding the girl’s body didn’t save her but it was already too late because her husband died in twisted fear and it was up to her to save their son, who has seen it as well.
Review:
If you are one of those who believe in chain letters and are scared of the curse it brings wait ‘till you see this movie. I should give credits to Hideo Nakata, the director, for a job well done. I must say that the Hollywood version was also great but I find the original version better.
When I first saw this movie it really scared the hell out of me, it was just so scary and the story of the movie was brilliantly written. If you are one of those who wanted to watch a horror movie that will keep you at the edge of your seat then this movie is for you.
