CrowsZeroCrows Zero is based on a popular comic book called Crows. The film is directed by Takashi Miike and written by Shogo Muto which stars Oguri Shun and Yamada Takayuki and was released in Japan on October 27, 2007 and in the United States of America on March 31, 2009 and is being followed by Crows Zero 2.

The movie is all about high school kid’s life at Suzuran All-Boys High School and how a kid name Genji makes a deal with his father that if he conquers his school, then he will become a successor of his father as the head of Yakuza syndicate. It wasn’t easy as he thought it was because in the school where he goes to a kid name Serizawa Tamao, known as the king of Beasts, was also close to conquering the school.

The movie defines the famous saying “United we stand, divided we fall”. It proves that so long as a group is united, then they will eventually be able to conquer almost everything. This movie showcase raw fight scenes, stunning effects and energy among the key characters of the movie making you feel like you are watching an animated action packed movie reminding you of final fantasy and the likes.

The movie depicts fighting at it is best without worrying about the storyline or putting more emphasis on the values which our society nowadays really needs especially since the kids in this movie doesn’t seem to respect anyone in authority even the school teachers, but only respect hardcore gang leaders. It’s about punk kids fighting rival gangs to reign over the entire school.

I like the action scenes of the movie and if you like tons of fists fighting, then you definitely need to check this movie out. It’s full of energy, action packed and the effects are just awesome utilizing fast forward and slow motion increasing the impact of the punches thrown and the acting is way too strong as well and the editing is simply superb. The atmosphere utilized in this movie is perfect the only thing that I don’t like about the movie is its utilization of the R&B music which I find way overboard; it just contradicts the movie’s setting as a whole.

It’s really refreshing to know that Miike’s has given himself a break from the low budget J-horror movies which really proves just how flexible he is when it comes to directing and not just stuck up on horror genre films. This is not his best film ever, but definitely is going to be his most popular one. So if you are looking for plain fun action movies, then why not check this movie out. I’m pretty sure with its bone crunching action packed scenes you will never looked at action movies the same way again.
