Who says you cant do two things at once? Philippine Senator Ramon Bong Revilla is also an actor and has a new movie Ang Panday , a Sci-Fi horror film by Mac C. Alejandre. The movie is a remake of the 1981 film starred by another actor turn politician Fernando Po Jr.
A film based loosely on classic Filipino comic book by Carlo J. Caparas, Ramon Revilla played as a simple ‘Panday‘ (blacksmith) name Flavio who witness a meteorite fall from the sky. Flavio then forge the ore into a ‘balaraw‘ (dagger). The dagger somehow turn into a magic sword when it detects evil forces or when Flavio is in great danger. Flavio did not have any magical powers but with his developed sword fighting skills he is able to fight back againts his nemesis minions
Judging from the trailer there are so many improvements compared to the previous Panday movies and TV shows made in the last 25 years, better special effects, dragons, orcs, and ninjas that breath and walk under sand dunes. There is a scene in there that I though was a quick shot from Lords of the Ring: Two Towers
Ang Panday also stars Iza Calzado, , Rhian Ramos, Robert Villar, and Benjie Paras. The film will be release by GMA films and Imus Production all over Philipines Cinemas on December 25, 2009. It has also been officially entered at 35th Metro Manila Film Festival.
