We have been anticipating Lee Jon-Ik’s new Korean film Like the Moon Escaping from the Clouds for months now and yet the people at their promotional department have been kind enough to tease us with lots of stills (which are awesome by the way)
Based on a three-book Korean manga series of the same name by Park Heung-yong. The movie is set in the 15th Century during the Joseon era following Japan’s invasion of Korea. It tells the tales of men from the lower class society taking risk in the fight for social equality.
Hwang Jung Min who also appeared in 2005 Korean hit movie “You Are My Sunshine” and “A Man Who Was Superman” plays the role of Hwang Jung Hak, a legendary blind swordsman with tattered clothes. He often wander the streets with his cane, but has the ability to wield his sword with perfect accuracy, his main nemesis Lee Mong Hak (Cha Seung-won) is also as tough as he is when they face off, however Mong Hak purpose is to kill the King with his own sword. Jung Hak also train a distress young man, Gyun Ja played by Baek Sung Hyun , the son of a concubine who resent the world due to his lesser class status. Also starring in the film is TV Drama actress Han Ji Hye who play Baek Ji, longtime lover of Lee Mong Hak, Gyun Ja also falls in love with Baek Ji and must fight for his honor to win her heart. Han Ji Hye is known for playing a role in MBC Series “East of Eden”
Filming began August 31, 20009 in North Gyeongsang Province and is expected to hit theatres in the middle of 2010. In the meantime enjoy the stills after the break.
