The tale of the movie began when Datu Pengiran Abdul Rahman had asked his lawyers to search for people to inherit a whooping huge fortune of worth RM 30 million. The main character have two sons named Azlee, a businessman and the other one is Mazlan, a fashion designer. Saiful , an orphan was also included in his last will and testament who had never imagined in his wildest dreams that he has a rich father, worked as a mechanic because he had not seen his father ever since. The other is a woman named Ratnapuri, a Siamese woman. The conflict of this movie started when the eldest among the brood cannot accept the bitter reality that his father also had acknowledged the inheritance between his two more siblings.
This is a hilarious comedy that has the heart and soul of a father that loved his children so much even to his dying day, the father even bothered to spend a fortune just to look for his other children to share the bounty of blessedness and abundant life. On the contrary, though the movie was a comedy, I found it to be interesting especially when the father had asked his lawyer to find his other children. For me that was somehow a very touching scene though attached with a condition that they had to live for thirty three days inside the house, still the movie made sense to me. The characters portrayed their roles effectively; In addition, they made it appear that that they felt every situation they were into.
The pacing of the movie was to some extent slow but the director of Menjerit was able to convey the message it wanted to send across to the viewers. As far as the sound quality was concerned, it was great but it would have been much more appealing to viewers like me, if there were translated in English language to ensure better understanding for somebody with critical analysis and thinking. The movie might not be perfect in some areas, however, the writer came up with a plot that was so ordinary, however, it made me realize that we can make quality movies, regardless of its genre. Overall, it is very much highly recommended to everyone father and children out there who is bonded with the most important treasure LOVE.
This is a story about a beautiful dancer whose beauty can be compared to a goddess. Her name was Meriam She was the dream of every man in their village, Paku Laris. Two friends, Danial and Marsami both fell in love with her. But only one man must win her heart. And that was no other than Danial, who was an average type of guy. Unfortunately, a sudden twist of fate ended their love story here on earth. Both lovers died suddenly caused by different tragic events Years later, Meriam returned to their quiet village as a “Pontianak” with a revengeful homecoming causing fear and havoc to their once tranquil town.
Primarily, it had a very nice plot, if not at all, the best. In addition, the director had her own distinctive style of directing as well as pacing this movie of hers. It was magnificent! Like for instance, a calm atmosphere was suddenly changed by fear provoking sound effects, especially in a particular scene where a “ Pontianak” suddenly appeared. For those of you who wish to know what “Pontianak is, it is a female vampire in Malaysian mythology that died after giving birth to her child. Going back, it was unbelievable and yet exciting to watch an artist who can portray effectively three different roles simultaneously in one horror film like this. Thus, making her one hell of an actress! On the other hand, the prosthetics used looked like real; yet expensive at that.
The scene that was hard to erase from my memory was the transformation scene of the lead character into a horrifying vampire and with all power and strength, she blew out the mirror shattering them into pieces. On the not so good points, it seemed like the movie was created in a rush. To prove, the editing was really awful and a disaster if I may call it. The timeline and the continuity was something, which needed further improvements in her future projects. To make the movie lighter in concept, the director had attempted to inject some slice of comedy but sad to say, it turned out to be annoying and irritating because it was out of context. Overall, I must give this movie a highly recommended rating because of its beautiful climactic presentation.
