My Wife is A Gangster 3 is directed by Jing-gyu Cho which stars Shu Qi, Lee Beom Soo, Yeong Hyeon, and Ji-ho Oh and was released in South Korea on December 28, 2006 and is preceded by My Wife is a Gangster 2.
The movie started out with Aryong walking down the stairs to join her father, who is a leader of a gangster, who is attending a gangster meeting. She was later on embarrassed by the rival gang’s boss and who later on found murdered inside a barbershop and it was Aryong who was accused of killing him. Aryong’s father, in a last minute effort to mend everything decided to send his daughter abroad. Aryong decided to go to South Korea as she wanted to find her long lost mother there as well, but instead she finds love and friendship.
It is worthy to note that this movie in spite of the title of the movie, has got nothing to do with the previous My Wife is a Gangster 1 and 2 movies.
This is a light hearted; action-comedy movie which showcases both martial arts and toughness of being a member of a gang and it follows the story of a Chinese-Korean daughter of a Hong Kong gangster boss. I find the movie very entertaining especially the part where the very accurate translator, Yeon-Hee, manipulates the conversation and try to make the situation more favorable on her by not saying exactly what Aryong says so as to scare the men.
The movie is great and is effective with its being an action-comedy one as it was able to tickle my funny bone especially when the translator joins the group, it was simply hilarious. The movie is not that action packed compared to the previous installations of the My wife is a Gangster, but it sure was able to live up to the first two installations of the movie.
I recommend the movie for being able to successfully make up for its lack of action through its funny sequences. Everything about this movie was quite impressive the only thing that didn’t impress me was the love story that blossom between Aryong and Ki Chul, I honestly find it very annoying and I believe it was intentionally added to the script for them to be able to live up to its title and one more thing I find the car sex-scene was just crazy in a seeming effort to indicate a love blossoming between Aryong and Ki Chul.
My Wife is a Gangster 3 is purely entertaining and is very successful in blending action and comedy and I am definitely going to recommend this movie to all my friends.
