kajimeikoAs part of Mad, Bad… & Dangerous to Know: Three Untamed Beauties series,  some great classic Japanese films starring Japanese actress Meiko Kaji will be featured at the Japan Society in New York: Female Prisoner #701: Scorpion, Stray Cat Rock: Sex Hunter, Lady SnowBlood: Blizzard from the Netherworld, Lady SnowBlood: Love Song of Vengeance, Female Convict Scorpion Jailhouse 41 will all  be screened during the month of April.

She began her career in the film industry in 1965. In Stray Cat Rock Sex Hunter she stars as a girl gang leader named Mako who assist an all male gang headed by Baron (Tatsuya Fuji). Together they rule the streets living the life like there is no tomorrow. However, everything change when Baron develop a bad blood against half race Japanese Kazuma. Mako on the other hand has a soft spot for the Kazuma. Now a side must be chosen and an all out war between the sexes begins.

Female Convict #701: Scorpion was released in 1972 and the actress starred as Nami Matsushima who was wrongly imprisoned in jail run by sadistic guards. Her lover Sugimi then tried to orchestrate an escape plan for her, little did he know that Matsu the scorpion a.k.a. Nami is waiting for the moment to execute a perfect revenge to the person who put her in the hellish prison in the first place, Sugimi.

Female Convict Scorpion Jailhouse 41 this sequel finds the deadly Matsu in a locked up solitary confinement. After escaping with other six convicts they find themselves in a ghost town. Their past are revealed one by one while embarking on a journey of perfect revenge.

Lady SnowbloodIn Lady Snowblood Meiko stars as Yuki, she is a conceived and raised for vengeance during the Meiji Period after her parents were killed. The sequel Lady SnowBlood: Love Song of Vengeance follows Yuki’s story after killing 37 people on her families behalf. After submitting herself to the authorities she is sentenced to death, however while waiting for her turn to die, an offer was made in exchange for her pardon – to kill the political anarchist Tokunaga Ransui. Will the sexy killing machine set on another journey once again?

The actress starred in 16 featured films including Battles Without Honor and Humanity: Hiroshima Deathmatch in 1973 and Yakuza Graveyard in 1976. Her last know feature film was Sonezaki Shinju released in 1978. She also appeared in several Japanese TV series. She is also an enka singer, a very stylish popular Japanese music genre.
