The upcoming $10 million Lee Jae-han Korean War movie, “71 – Into The Fire” is picked up by Fine Cut, a Seoul-based movie sales company. The company acts as a sales agent for Korean-made movies as well as investing in films and obtaining the rights of films to be shown in Korea. The movie which is about 71 brave student soldiers who go against all odds when they battled against experienced soldiers from the North Korean army during the Korean War.

Produced by Taewon Entertainment, the movie is the company’s follow-up project of the same company that created the blockbuster TV series “IRIS” which stars Lee Byung-hun. The cast of the new movie include Korean Wave star Kwon Sang-woo (“My Tutor Friend” in 2003 and “Fate” in 2008), Kim Seung-woo (who played a role in the TV series “IRIS”), Cha Seung-won (“Eye for an Eye” in 2008 and “Secret” in 2009) as well as Choi Seung-hyun (who is also known as T.O.P.) Cha plays the role of an enigmatic major in the North Korean army while Kim takes the role of a South Korean captain who tries to save the students. The movie illustrates the emotions of the students as their fiercely battle to defend their last line of defense. The special effects team who are a part of the production crew of the movie are the same people who worked on the effects of John Woo’s 2008 epic film “Red Cliff”, Feng Xiaogang’s 2007 movie “Assembly”, and the 2004 film, “Taegukgi: The Brotherhood Of War”. Film production started last December and the local distributor is set to release the film in Korea this coming summer. Fine Cut, on the other hand, will screen a promo reel in Berlin’s European Film Market.
