BarangBarang is directed Neal ‘Buboy’ Tan and starring Juliana Palermo, Jay Manalo, Jacklyn Jose, Terence Baylon, and Cristine Reyes.

The movie tells a story about a young lady who became a victim over a wrath of a spiteful witch whose son committed suicide because the young lady broke his heart. A strong spell leaves the unlucky lady cursed the rest of her life until she died a horrific death. The lady’s spirit seeks justice and vengeance for her death and targets three young visitors leaving them to fight for their lives and it’s up to them to find out the truth behind the mysterious things that’s happening and help the ghost find peace.

I like the end of the story wherein one of the young visitors tormented by the ghost of the lady who fell victim to a witch’s curse found out that it was her older sister who was haunting them and that she wasn’t trying to hurt them at all, but trying to save them from ending up with the same fate as she did. The ghost was only trying to reach out to her younger sister whom she lost contact when they were younger and try so hard to protect her from the sinister witch’s curse which was not even her fault to begin with. The witch was way too self centered and blame the lady whom her son fell in love and blame her for her son’s tragic death. The lady’s life and death has affected the lives of the town folks in general.

The movie showcases rich Filipino customs, traditions and beliefs especially when it comes to spells and witchcraft. The movie’s story is great although they should have put more work on the special effects since its not very convincing. The actors were strong and superb and live up to their characters but just don’t put too expectations to it as you’ll probably get disappointed. Overall the movie is good and if you are looking for a movie with great story then this movie is for you.
