As such, he was meant to exhibit Japanese superiority to the foreign warrior. Going straight to the point, Akira did not seem to have thought of this project in a more serious manner. My basis for saying this was it was evident that this film was a great disappointment for viewers who had not seen the movie yet. His trademark as the “ King of Visual Imagery” was not present in this film, unlike the first Sugata. What I had observed in this creation of his, was its being a standard, Meaning, the Japanese propaganda was too little, in terms of its scenarios, characterization and concepts. Further, my honest opinion about this flick, though it really hurts, it was nothing but a FLOP. In this case, I really had a strong suspicion that he was not the one who directed the film. However, his name was credited at the end of the motion picture. from start to finish, I did not see the Kurosawa magic being manifested. To support my claim, there were no environmentally framed shots, no dark and light contrasts, and no horizon dividing the frame.

Perhaps, he might have done this with a 50 yen. On the other hand, the comical fight between the Judo stylist and the Karate stylist made me laugh as if I had my first bunch of laughter. It looked like a parody. Because it was made without a climactic twist. As far as the subtitles were concerned, I had a very strong feeling that it was made by a Chinese, who could speak a little of Japanese and English languages. Speaking of its plot, it was too confusing unless. you will be able to pay much attention; if you will not drowse off yourself to sleep while watching this “lousy movie”. The problem was it projected martial arts in a different light.

On a positive note, the Kurosawa masterpiece had shown his love for martial arts. This was something that every viewer can be proud of. It was worth applauding. This sequel if you might ask, was about the relationship of American and Japanese in 1887. It was when Sugata had finally been pushed to the wall against a match up between him and a boxing champion.

It tells a story about a notorious group of assassins whom instead of killing their foes with indescribable force, the characters made it appear that it was a case of “everyday accidents. Each “ accident” was very much detailed, It was through these critically planned and analyzed film sequences, that moviegoers will have the pleasure and excitement to watch, while their adrenalin rises up to the highest level from start to finish.

In the opening scene, it was obvious that somebody was going to be killed; but as to how its going to happen was a surprise to movie spectators. Story wise, this movie has two halves. The first part, centered on the building up of the traits of the teams involved. On the other hand, the other half was about the intricate details of setting up the supposed “accidents”.

In the film, the camera was perfectly utilized to redirect and manipulate every viewer’s thinking that something is going to happen next. However, it had been “redirected” for more exciting scenes later on as the movie progresses. Furthermore, the movie highlights the methodical approach of the assassins in killing their foes with a dash of suspense and black comedy to make the techniques magnificent to watch while you munch your popcorn. The character’s acting was excellent too. Accident as a whole can be described as a provoking; yet, an emotional movie. In this regard, I must say this was one of the best action pictures of last year. The action- adventure, film had a story flow that looked like it had been edited but precisely, it was one hell of a movie, which was excellently produced. Moreover, it featured the acting prowess of Lam Suet who had tremendously added a sense of style and credibility to the movie’s plot. Even more, his charisma made the premise of the movie great and promising to see.

In summary, this was one of the most spectacular films of 2009, which I highly recommend to all viewers whose lives are also action packed just like this one. Accident stars Louis Koo and Richie Ren, grab a copy of this and be the judge yourself.

This starred Filipina actress, Miss Maricel Soriano who is dubbed as the “Diamond Star” of Philippine movies. She played the role of a volunteer of the “Save An Orphan” Foundation. The conflict in this particular Filipino made movie began when Claire decided to adopt an orphan, But the ragamuffin girl has a mysterious genetic origin. She came from a family of “engkantos” (another term for black or negative spirits) How will Claire deal with the paranormal dilemma? Will she be able to make the orphan a normal being? Alternatively, will she in way or the other accept the child despite of her extraordinary spiritual nature?

Chito Rono, a multi – awarded and an internationally acclaimed movie director from the Philippines, had made other films with the same genre, proudly admitted that this was one of the most expensive horror movie ever made in the history of Philippine cinema , after his flicks Feng Shui and Sukob respectively. His reason for this was the special effects used in the movie, especially in its last eleven minutes of the film. Rono utilized the CGI technology to make it realistic due to its superb special effects. Of course, the effects would be a “bunch of nonsense” if the story plot was not carefully thought of. Undoubtedly, Chito Roni did it again! Tenement 2 was excellent like no other Filipino horror movies that I had seen To add, its uniqueness would show the viewers how a cruising ship through the rivers and planes were possible in their spiritual dimension. As a paranormal enthusiast, this was something worth watching likewise, nice to explore about. Paranormally, the movie was well – researched, Thus, adding to it flick a sense of “great cinematic zest and vigor”.

Though the story of the movie seemed too ambiguous from the beginning, the real intent of the picture unfolds as the story unwrapped eventually. In essence, it tried to come across with a message that extraordinary entities were in our midst, no matter how civilized and modern our society is now. On the other hand, the golum made me scream to death Whew! More than ever, the luster of the “Diamond Star still shines.

Overall, this is highly recommended.

Directed by Hu Mei, the movie was released January 28, 2010. Kong Zi otherwise known as Confucius was a famous Chinese philosopher who is married to Qi Quan, who was blessed with two siblings named Kong Rao and Kong Li. This Chinese guru left a legacy through his teachings that aim to give every person the opportunity to become morally upright. Thus, living a life that is guided by love, equality, and justice among men. This movie was all about his life and times, that vastly influenced China’s way of life and its beliefs as a whole, Confucius, the author of the “ Five Classics” is someone that is not only a philosopher, but a “Chosen One” as well.

If my memory serves me right, a biographical movie is something that will enlighten the viewers about a famous person, if not a legend. However. Confucius the movie, only perplexed the real persona of the well – known sage. In other words, it was uninteresting to watch. Imagine, the director and all those behind this movie projected the deep thinker as a politician? Likewise, based from what I have read, the Chinese government attempted to manipulate the cinema industry by doing everything out of political influence and power to make this film be shown.

Unfortunately, reviewing this film based on objectivity is not feasible. It was simply because the biographical epic got worst as it progressed. This made me lost control of my emotions. As a result, I almost left the movie house if I had not realized that I paid an exorbitant sum of money, just to see this garbage film.

Character wise, the actor who played the famous man in Chinese history was a lousy artist. Because he had constantly displayed the same facial vent throughout the entire film, regardless of the situation he was into. Consequently, it gave me a notion that Confucius was a “two dimensional” guru. On the other hand, the plot seemed to have a vacuum within its context, making it irrelevant. Moreover, the action scenes where out of hand in relation to the flick’s synopsis. The other people in the movie were obviously satires, especially one disciple who was always having his forty winks due to excessive drinking. This part was contradictory to the majority’s supposition that Confucius was a philosopher in the real sense of the word.

This movie could have been exceptional if only the concepts were carefully planned.

In reference to the story, it was about a boy named Keeichi who had transferred to a far- flung village at the onset of summer. Friendly as he was, he made friends with a group of women in the new place that he was staying. As days passed, he began to discover some “strange things” with the girls that he used to hang out with.

With an “intuitive gut feel”, our lead character began to speculate that these people were involved in a murder, which was happening in the village every summertime. God answered him when he later confirmed this, when these dubious personalities messed his life by threatening him, in diverse and puzzling manners, To help himself out with his dilemma, he searched for a trustworthy person to divulge to the police what has to be revealed. Coincidentally, his confidant knew something about the girls “dark activities.” As this movie unfolds, mysteries that are more shocking will be revealed, leading to a bloodier end.

Let me take a closer look into the intricate details of this movie. First. Oikawa’s manner of interjecting “horrific” elements into ordinary scenes, to my own perspective was unnecessary. More so, scenes with confounding use of slow motions and its foreboding soundtrack minimized the thrilling essence of the film. It is very much understandable and objective to think that “creepiness” corresponds to horror and vice versa. However, the director must put the interjection in its proper place. In general, a dread feeling had been emphasized from beginning to end. It seemed to have ambiguous parts. Nevertheless, the convincing and spine chilling performance of Rina made the movie to bounce back from its minimal flaws so to speak. In addition, the film incredibly reflected that motion pictures could still have a room for cinematic makeover and innovation.

Plot wise, “Shrill Cries Of Summer” movie depicted the old – fashioned folklore, paganism rituals and beliefs of the villagers To my end, this flick could have been more exciting to watch if the “ senseless ‘subplots were not included. However, it was a deeply and culturally interesting Overall, highly recommended.

However, due to his not so good standing in his society, his far-fetched ambition failed to be realized. Instead, he equipped himself with the knowledge of cutting cats and dogs. Meanwhile, when he met Takechi Hanpeita, a ruthless leader of Tosa Loyalist Party, he manipulated the poor Izo to kill people, which resulted in the inhumane death of Izo by crucifixion just like Jesus Christ.

Going back to the movie, the director together with Takeshi Kitano gave life to this heartbreaking film nevertheless, with a different twist. If in real life, Izo died a cruel death, in this film he was able to escape the after life, making it possible for him to transcend time and space respectively, to look after lying tongues and sinners to make them accountable for their wrong doings. Further, his main purpose was the Japanese ruling council who had made his very own life like “hell”.

With respect to my own insights of this flick, on a positive note, the variation of enemies is a creative tactility of the producers and directors themselves. Imagine the protégé of the film was battling hordes of SWAT police, samurai vampires, zombie – like contemporary women were exciting to see, leaving you hanging at the edge of your seats. Though some of these fight scenes were less entertaining, the mega director had provided cool and inspiring build ups as the enemies circled around the protagonist very dramatically. This, he made so artistically presented through a well – choreographed action scenes. In conclusion, it clearly portrayed Izo as one person who condemned violence rather than irrationally glorifying it.

Izo, perfectly interplayed political issues with a larger magnitude, by trying to inject contemporary and historical issues of war with the main character has continued exposure to violence. In essence, this film was thoroughly spellbinding whose shock and gore were realistically done making it one of a kind. As far as its context, though the scenes were vomittingly violent, it was actually against chaos, adopting the Buddhist approach. This was evident in one scene wherein Izo imposed a religious ritual, denounced the clergy, and urinated in the altar. Therefore, making his salvation compromised.

Overall, the movie is highly recommended due to its social relevance.

In addition, his temperament had hardly changed, though the times had greatly transformed; as the years passed by. Every year, his beloved students celebrated his birthday and raised the question, ” Mahda kai?” meaning not yet just to hear him reply Madadayo; in translation,” No, not yet”. This is in reference to a ritual of self- affirmation, as well as the sweetest desire to last forever. Madadayo was a certified Japanese film, which highlighted the country’s customs and traditions and most importantly, the people’s everyday life.

In a pre- war scenario in Tokyo, the professor had decided to retire after thirty years of teaching, Though already retired, his students still kept in touch with the loving mentor. However, a tragic incident happened in 1943. His house was bombed. As a result, he lost particularly everything that he had and settled to live in a gardener’s cottage. After the war, his students had built a house for him around a beautiful lake, wherein every year they held a reunion and conducted a funny ceremony based on a childhood game called “ hide and seek”. Nevertheless, the question of “Are you ready?” was still a part of their friendship and happiness.

This film appeared to be as a ‘light comedy”. Nevertheless, as I watched the film deeply and intently, I had noticed that each of the characters had their very own stories to tell. Moreover, it was quite charming. While I enjoyed watching this, I had felt that I was transported to post war Japan through a time machine, It had given me a golden opportunity to have a glimpse of Japan and her personality through this film. Kurosawa’s brilliance never faded; but it added more luster to his movie making career.

The English subtitles were good enough; but it lacked the ability to explain everything. Most importantly, its title though correctly translated , was oftentimes associated with a child’s game of hide and seek. This seemed to be a poignant part of the movie. As a whole, the message of kindness and generosity moved me to tears up to the very end. This was really an exceptional film.

Overall, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
