New Stills for Ip Man 2

As the upcoming sequel to the movie “IP MAN 2”, about Wing Chun master of the iconic Bruce Lee nears its release in Asia and Australia, new movie stills came out recently. The images and the latest teaser poster that shows stunt actor, Darren Shahlavi, the boxing opponent of Yip Man as well as additional pictures of the Sammo Hung and Donnie Yen. The first images of child actor Jiang Daiyan was also included in the images released. Jiang Daiyan plays the role of a young Bruce Lee. These newly released images show a bit more about the movie than what was show in previous images and trailers released earlier. The movie follows the migration of Ip Man from mainland China into Hong Kong and his efforts in making Wing Chun popular in the area.

The movie also gives focus on a young Bruce Lee before he becomes the most famous among the disciples of Ip Man. The movie, which is produced by Raymond Wong under the direction of Wilson Yip (“Flash Point” – 2007 and “Ip Man” – 2008) stars Donnie Yen who reprises his role as the legendary Wing Chun master and Sammo Hung (“Ip Man” – 2008 and “14 Blades” – 2010) who plays the role of a local Hung Fist master who comes into a dispute with Ip Man. Other members of the cast include Lynn Hung (“Ip Man” – 2008 and “Short of Love” – 2009), Lam Ka-Tung (“Ip Man” – 2008 and “Vengeance” – 2009), Fan Siu-Wong (“Ip Man” – 2008), and Kent Cheng (“Flash Pount” – 2007).

The movie will hit the big screens in Asia and in Australia on April 29, 2010.

The Legend is born for Ip Man Prequel Trailer

The trailer for the Herman Yau film, “The Legend Is Born: Ip Man”, a fictionalized story about the younger days of Yip Man was recently released. The latest film about the mentor of the iconic martial artist Bruce Lee, comes at the heels of several other films that tells the story of the legendary master of Wing Chun. The movie will revolve around the struggle of Yip Man against foreign invaders as well as his romantic relationships during the time he was under the guidance of three masters of Wing Chun, Chan Wah-shun, Ng Chung-sok and Leung Bik. What makes this film stand out more is the fact that the eldest son of Yip Man appears in the film playing the role of one of Yip Man’s Wing Chung masters. Yip Chun takes on the role of Leung Bik, the second teacher of Yip Man, in his one and only movie. After the production of the film, Yip Chun said that he will become a part of any film as an actor. He said, “Really tedious, very happy to have finished it. I won’t involve myself as an actor in any films anymore.” According to Yip Chun, he was curious about how the movie will turn out since he was not very knowledgeable about some parts of his father’s life, “I only know that my part in the film is real, for it’s the same as the version I heard when young. I’m not clear about other parts. My father didn’t tell me, neither did I ask about his relationships.” He added, “I’m curious myself how things would turn out it the movie.”

The movie also stars Yuen Biao as Ng Chung-sok, Sammo Hung as Chan Wah-shun and To Yu-Hang as Yip Man. The movie is scheduled to be released in May 2010.

The latest trailer for the M. Night Shyamalan movie “The Last Airbender” was released recently. This time, the latest trailer shows a good amount of what to expect from the movie once it hits the big screen. The movie follows the adventures of Aang, the last one of his kind, who is also the next in line of a long list of avatars. This movie is a live-action adaptation of the animated series, “Avatar: The Last Airbender”. Although most of the characters in the movie are non-Asians, the movie itself is heavily influenced by Asian arts, mythology and a host of martial arts fighting techniques. The movie will star Noah Ringer as Aang, Nicola Peltz as Katara, Jackson Rathbone as Sokka and Dev Patel as Zuko, who has vowed to catch the Avatar.

Aang, who is the next avatar, needs to master the manipulation of all four elements – wind, water, fire and earth – in order for him to fulfill his mission of bringing peace to a world ravaged by war. He needs to go up against the Fire Nation, which is bent on ruling the world. With the help of a water-bender, Katara, and her brother Sokka, they embark on an adventure to save the world from the Fire Nation. Other notable member of the cast include Aasif Mandvi as Admiral Zhao, Sahun Toub as Uncle Iroh, Cliff Curtis as the Fire Lord Ozai”, Jesssica Andres as Suki – a female warrior from Kyoshi Island and Seychelle Gabriel as Yue – the daughter of the chief of the Northern Water Tribe. The movie is produced by MTV Films, Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies. It i scheduled to hit the big screen on July 2, 2010. Watch the Trailer after the break.

A Korean horror comedy that is set to be released this month has released a stimulating, bizarre and unconventional trailer recently. The Neighbour Zombie is under the direction of Oh Young-Doo, Ryu Hoon, Hong Young-Geun, and Jang Youn-Jung. The screenplay of the movie was also done by the same people who directed the movie, Oh Young-Doo, Ryu Hoon, Hong Young-Geun, and Jang Youn-Jung. The movie, which is a low-budget horror four-part collection set within a scenario of the spread of a zobie virus outbreak, won the Jury’s Choice Award as well as the Prugio Citizen’s Choice prize in the 13^th edition of the Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival.

The movie stars Bae Yong-Geun (“Secret Reunion” – 2010 and “Rough Cut” – 2008) as Yong-geun, Hong Young-Geun (“Secret Reunion” – 2010 and “Private Eye” – 2009) as Otaku, Ha Eun-Jung (“A Boy Who Is Walking In The Sky” – 2008) as Eun-jeong, Seo Yun-A (“Hypnotized” – 2004), and Lee Ju-Yeon (“City of Damnation” – 2009).

“The Neighbour Zombie” is a movie set in 2010 and is about a zombie virus that is slowly spreading all around the world. One of the places infected by the zombie virus is a Seoul, which is a peaceful yet uneasy city. To prevent the further spread of the virus in the city, the government in Seoul declares martial law while they search for people who were affected by this deadly virus. Once they find these people with the virus, the government intended to get rid of them. However, civilians living in the city are at risk of getting infected by the zombie virus. Instead of trying to keep away from the other residents who are infected, they hide them and feed them while searching for a way to be able to cure them. The movie is scheduled to be released on February 18, 2010.

Fire of Conscience – A look at Dante Lam Hong Kong movie Trailer

The trailer of the latest movie of Hong Kong film director Dante Lam, came out recently. “Fire of Conscience” is a fitting follow-up to his 2008 critically acclaimed film “Beast Stalker”, which starred Nick Cheung and Liu Kai-Chi, as well as “Sniper” starring Richie Ren (“Accident” 2009), Huang Xiaoming (“Ip Man 2” – 2010 and “The Founding of the Republic” – 2009), and Edison Chen (“The Grudge 2” – 2006) . Lam, who won the best director trophy of the Hong Kong Film Award together with Gordon Chan in 1998, also directed the 2003 Hong Kong box office hit, “The Twins Effect” which owes part of its success to the popularity of the Cantopop duo, Twins.

The “Fire of Conscience” is the newest police action/thriller of Lam which stars Leon Lai (“Bodyguards and Assassins” – 2009 and “The Founding of a Republic” – 2009) and Richie Ren as two police officers. The film was originally known as “Out of Leash”. The movie revolves around the investigation of the death of a prostitute which forces the forceful and determined Detective Manfred (Lai) to work with sophisticated and clever Narcotics Bureau Inspector Kee (Ren). After samples of DNA from the scene of the crime implicate a member of Manfred’s police force, Manfred must see past the obvious to uncover the truth behind the homicide. However, Kee’s over eagerness to help the investigation even if it is outside his jurisdiction has also raised some suspicions. Manfred’s job has now become complicated as he tries to discover the real identity of the one responsible at the same time keep the integrity of his guiltless partner. Manfred inadvertently uncovers a reality that may threaten to cause a lot of turmoil in the whole Hong Kong Police Force. The movie is scheduled for release on April 1, 2010 all over Hong Kong.

The Last Airbender’s Latest Trailer

M. Night Shymalan’s forthcoming action-adventure-fantasy movie “The Last Airbender” has released a new trailer. This new trailer will be shown during the Superbowl although it is already available over the web. It will show a considerable amount of footage about the movie. This movie is live-action adaptation of an animated series “AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER”. The release of the trailer was preceded by the release of two character posters. One of the posters featured taekwondo-trained actor Noah Ringer, who will play the title role of Aang. The second poster showed Dev Patel, who is more known for his role in “Slumdog Millionaire”, will play the role of Prince Zuko, Aang’s nemesis. The film was based on a popular Nickelodeon animated series, created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. Asian mythology and philosophy has been a big inspiration of the series as well as the movie. It is about Aang, the descendant of long line of avatars. He has the task of bringing peace into world by stopping Prince Zuko from enslaving all the other nations, the Water Nation, The Earth Nation and the Wind Nation. Aang is a member of the Air Nation while Prince Zuko is a member of the Fire Nation.

There are some issues regarding the inaccuracy of the race of the characters, something that may not hold well with the fans of the series.

The movie itself is a thrill to watch. Other members of the cast are Jackson Rathborne (as Sokka), Nicola Peltz (as Katara), Shaun Toub (as Uncle Iroh), Seychelle Gabriel (as Princess Yue) and Aasgi Mandvi (Commander Zhao)

The movie is scheduled to be released on July 2, 2010

First Trailer of Pang Ho-Cheung Horror movie “Dream Home”

After what very long wait for the much-delayed slasher film directed by Pang Ho-Cheung, “Dream Home” finally released it first teaser trailer. The film, which was first reported early last year, appears to be near its completion and may be released to the big screen later on. The movie was put on hold for almost a year due to some legal wrangling on the final result of the movie. The producer of the film, actress Josie balked at the harshness of the film, but Pang did not want anything on the film to be changed. The film, which had a budget of $4 million, was funded by the father of Josie Ho, casino mogul and philanthropist Stanley Ho. It was supposedly a part of a projected 3 to 5 films with a budget of $ 12.8 million, to be funded by the mogul. The differences may have been settled with the release of the trailer. The trailer itself was reportedly shot by the husband of Josie Ho, which features Edison Chen, who will not be a part of the movie itself. The trailer was nicely done even though Pang did not shoot it. Pang was able to complete another movie, “Love In A Puff” which is a romantic comedy, while waiting for the resolution of the predicament.

In the movie, Josie Ho takes the role of a woman who does everything she can to acquire her dream home even up to a point that she tries to get the life insurance of her father.

The movie is scheduled to be released in Hong Kong on May 13. The trailer was released by City Entertainment
